COMENN HONOURS PROF AGORO

On thursday, 28th of April 2016, Professor Saviour Agoro, Provost Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education, Sagbama, Bayelsa State was at a well attended occasion at the Solid Rock Foundation Hall, Igbogene honoured as the CHAMPION FOR CHANGE Award by the leadership of Community Media Network of Nigeria. Speaking at the Award presentation ceremony, national Chairman of COMENN Mr. Ebi Ozegbe said, the Award is in recognition of his shining leadership qualities in the area of Education in the State. He said, Prof. Agoro championed a crusade  to ensure that the College was not shut down particularly at its turbulent period, brought about the issue of cultism to the barest minimum and also brought about academic activities to limelight that was almost collapsing when the College was relocated to Sagbama, where he encountered Donor Agencies like TETFUND to put on befitting structures among other things in the College for effective academic work. 

He said Prof. Agoro was able to achieve these successes due to his vast knowledge on students' background, commitment and dedication to the service of the State, further stated that he solicited for the upgrading of teaching in the rural areas of the State as a result of rural urban migration of teachers which negatively affected the quality of education and his SOS request for Bayelsa state government to take urgent steps to develop rural areas so as to make them habitable for citizens is a commitment to the service of the State, hence he deserved the Award and charged him to ensure that the fight against cultism and other social vices in academic environments are eradicated and thanked him for a job well done.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Agoro said, ordinarily he would not have accepted the Award, but a pensive look at the pedigree of people behind the Group, he felt highly elated for the Award bestowed on him, stating that he lacked words to express, because he never expected it to come and thanked the leadership of COMENN for finding him worthy for the Award. The event was well attended by people from all Works of Life.
