Over 10, 000 Ijaw students are Educationally stranded - Queen of Izon-Ibe raises alarm, calls on Ijaw leaders to intervene.

Delta: The newly coronated cultural beauty Queen of Izon-Ibe, Queen Elizabeth Tonghan has raised alarm over the decline of education and the massive rate of unemployment in Izon Nation even with the enormous resources deposited in the land.

In an official press release dated 28th December 2016, she said " Also, I am deeply Saddened by the poverty of our people from a rich region, the dilapidated state of our primary schools and how hundreds of our students in the tertiary institutions drop out everyday due unavailability of fees, on my assessment, over 10, 000 Izon students are yet to pay their sessional fees, over 20,000 cannot afford waec fees, and many of such sad stories all over.

Painfully, lots of our merit scholarship scheme have been altered by mediocrity. The Scholarship schemes of Some Oil companies operating in our region are either sold out or those benefitting it are not Izon people, the Multinationals and NGOs have little or no regard for Students union bodies in Izon Nation while they treat those from the west and North with high values and respect. I have decided to say little of our problems because the solution is just one thing;'' Unity''.

She therefore appealled to Izon leaders to intervene by standing up to protect the Izon Child, "help us to fight for our rights instead of fighting yourselves, help us to get the right education, provide a comfortable environment for us to operate, constantly engage multinationals to include education and employment as their first priority for Izon people" the statement added.

The Statement further reads:

"It is with a sense of responsibility that I wish to compliments all sons and daughters of Izon Nation as we yet again celebrate in unity, the birth of our Lord God Jesus Christ, as we celebrate, let us not forget the challenges facing us as a people.

Under my leadership as Cultural Beauty Queen of Izon-Ibe, i therefore wish to use this platform to call on all  Izon-Ibe Children to embrace unity for speedy liberation of our minds and environment.

If we must thrive in a region as rich as ours then unity is the first step. Let us put aside our political differences, shun cultism and plunge our land into the revolution of a united and tranquilize rich region.

It is no doubt that proper Orientation of our mind is the lasting solution to the discord amongst us, there is therefore need for a serious campaign and awareness for Izon children to be in schools.

I want to specifically call the attention of our leaders, Kings, Chiefs, NGOs, Government, Multinationals, to the pitiable state of education and high level of neglection meted upon Izon Children.

On a final note, Let me reiterate my stand that unity is key, and one thing needed most at this time is education.

Haaa Izon!!!

Yours in the Spirit of Izon:
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth Tonghan
Queen of Izon-Ibe 2016/17".
