SENATE PASSES FUPRE BILL, COURTESY OMO-AGEGE
ALL SALUTE THE PEOPLE'S SENATOR, AS SENATE PASSES FUPRE BILL!
The Senate today passed the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (Establishment, ETC) Bill, 2016 (SB. 226) - an executive bill - sponsored by the Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. The passage of the Bill is a manifest testimony to the People's Senator's absolute dedication to duty and passion to serve the Urhobo Nation/Delta Central with impactful results to show.
Let us inform our people that unlike previous or other versions of the Bill, Senator Omo-Agege successfully rallied the Senate of the Federal Republic, in passing the Bill, to mandate the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to contribute 2% of their Annual Budgets to FUPRE. This is a huge achievement. The Bill also makes it mandatory for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to provide FUPRE with an annual special project in oil and gas infrastructure in addition to its regular annual interventions. When signed into law, the Condition of Service of Employees in FUPRE shall be the same as what is obtainable in the oil and gas industry. This will allow the university attract and retain best brains for training and research purposes. There are much more in the Bill passed today.
Our Senator commendably took a very thoughtful long-term thinking approach on the FUPRE Bill. He fired up his team on the 'big picture' every step of the way. His selfless commitment brought out the best in people and the process. The passage of the Bill today speaks to his fine, result-driven leadership.
And so we say, let all persons of goodwill and good conscience salute The Obaisi of Urhoboland and People's Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for delivering on his promise to spend his time judiciously for our people in the Senate. Let us also thank all Distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic for doing the people's job so well. Let us give all the glory to God Almighty.
We shall get there!

Efe Duku
Senior Legislative Aide.
