Release autopsy of murdered UNIPORT student, NANS tells Police
By Jimitota Onoyume
PORT HARCOURT— National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has called on the Police to release the result of the autopsy conducted on a final year student of the University of Port Harcourt, Mr Peter Ofurum, who was shot dead during a protest by students of the school on April 11.
It will be recalled that students of the school had protested what they termed outrageous charges by the university on April 11, a situation that resulted in the closure of the school after Ofurum was shot dead, allegedly by the Police.
Coordinator, Zone B of NANS, Mr Peter Obi in a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt said that the students welcome the constitution of a panel by the Governing Council of the University to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the protest and murder of the final year student.
The student body blamed the university management for the protest, saying its insistence on shutting out some students who had not paid their fees from writing the exams triggered the protest.
