(PHOTOS) BABY BORN WITH HEART OUTSIDE BODY

A baby was born with his heart and intestines outside his chest and abdomen at a local hospital in Gaidam area of Yobe state yesterday, June 5th.

The baby was immediately rushed to University Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State, for medical attention.

He suffers from birth defect caused by Pentalogy of Cantrell, a rare congenital condition that occurs in estimated 5.5 in one million live births.

The heart could be seen beating against his abdominal area, protected only by a thin layer of skin.
