IYC DENIES PROTEST LETTER, ORDERS POLICE TO ARREST PROTESTERS
YENEGOA: The Chairman of the Ijaw youth council (IYC), central zone, Comrade Bobolayefa Owoupele, has given a marching order to the Bayelsa state police command to arrest students under the auspices of "Students Structure of the IYC central Zone".
He maintained that such group does not exist under the Ijaw youths council, he therefore urged security agencies to be on alert and be ready for such persons, who would want to disrupt activities in the state under the guise of IYC, he stated clearly that those disseminating such information are criminals and should be dealt with as thus.
According to the information from the state owned Radio station, 97.1, the Iyc chairman made in clear terms, that the union has not written any letter to any institution stating it want to embark on protest, he therefore called on the general public not to panic.
He further advised youths in the state to be calm and always sue for peace, he expressed commitment in ensuring a lasting peace in Bayelsa, which will help in the development of Bayelsa state.
