TRIBUNAL ORDERS BAYELSA REC APPEARANCE
At the Bayelsa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in abuja, it was ordered that the National Secretary of INEC be served with the relevant subpoena and Order to compel the appearance of the Bayelsa State REC and required EOs and ROs, to testify on their actions during the Last Governorship elections in Bayelsa State.
This order followed the complaint of counsel to the petitioner S. T. Hon, SAN, on behalf of Chief Timipre M. Sylva, about the continued evasion of service by the said INEC officers and which action is stalling the proceedings.
The INEC officer present at the sitting on 6/May/2016 and The Head, Legal Department of INEC in Yenagoa could not give satisfactory explanation about complaint and earlier appeals by the Tribunal for counsel and officers of INEC present, to make concerted effort to effect service and appearance of witnesses to testify upon subpoena.
