STOP YOUR AKAWO AND PAY US - WORKERS TELLS DICKSON

By Clement O. Paul

The Governor of Bayelsa has since the inception of his second term placed embargo on payment of salary for months now, like he did on employment right from 2012 till date. It's even worse as local government workers are owed up to 7,8,9,10 months salaries respectively, under the countryman Governor's watch, without sanctions.

Governor Dickson should stop his monthly Akawo to aid circulation of funds in Bayelsa State. Why have our leaders murdered their conscience, smiling in the gathering of bereaved?

Assuming May 29, 2016 is slated for a rerun Governorship election in Bayelsa state, by now the chant of countryman governor, Ijaw man party would have fill the air. Monies would have fly from nowhere to barter votes of hungry Bayelsans and manipulate elections' results to usher in looter and heartless village man as Governor. After election Bayelsans' eyes clear. I have never seen a countryman so insensitive to the plights of those whom he grew up with in the county like the Governor of Bayelsa State.

For him there is always no money after elections. No money, Bayelsa Civil service had been over staff were the flimsy reasons why he played embargo on employment right from 2012 till date. He never merited a second term, yet he was forced on Bayelsans - even as many bartered their votes to quench the hunger unleash on Bayelsans by Bayelsans, to ensure they loss sense of reasoning. No money no sense? Chei. After election eye clears.

For Dickson, No money to pay salaries for months now. No money to create jobs for Bayelsans. No money to create enabling environment where businesses will thrive.

There is always no money after elections to attract foreign investors. No money to provide portable water for Bayelsans. No money to pay workers salaries.

Bayelsans should keep believing that there is no money to pay backlog of workers salaries, like believing a Head of Camel pass through the eye of a needle in Bayelsa State. Maybe, the Governor will need to come out to tell Bayelsans how he expended the 4 months alloactions, the bailout funds, compulsory savings funds, IGR funds plus over billed civil servants tax monies. What about the monthly 13% oil derivation funds and the local government alloactions? Dickson has started another Akawo with Bayelsans' common wealth again.

This is not the time for civil servants to accept brainwashing lies from the Restoration Government? But, why are civil servants so comfortable in their present predicament of working without payment for months - even as most people have resorted to begging and doing away with neighbours pot of soup to avert untimely death?

Some of us have always cried louder and longer than the unpaid civil servants in the state. Yes, the non payment of salaries since January 2016 has affected the state generally, as market women now shade and back their products most times as no one ask "who dey sell" nowadays in various business centres in the state.

Well, I can't stop crying out loud about the non payment of salaries by the state Governor, because, small scale businesses are no more thriving as patronage is either <1or=0 in the state. Traders are relocating to neighbouring states.

The civil servants must do the needful, ensure that Governor Dickson stop his restarted monthly Akawo, to release money and ensure circulation of funds in Bayelsa State.
