NLC, TUC BAYELSA STATE CHAPTER ARE UNDER TYRANNY
By Aaron Erefitei
The inability of Bayelsa State government to pay civil servants salary after collecting federal allocations, bail out funds is no longer a new story in Nigeria. Some Local Government Areas (LGAs) have not been paid for more than thirteen (13) months, such as Ogbia LGA in the State.
Another alarming situation is the fact the only State owned university (Niger Delta University) has been on strike for about two months due to negligence and nonpayment of salary by the State government.
Governor Seriake Dickson has asked Niger Delta University (NDU) to fund itself, complaining that the wage bill Attached to the school is too much.
The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress (NLC and TUC) have seemingly been into coma in Bayelsa State. The bodies have been making some sycophantic noise to the public in order to get noticed.
Currently in Bayelsa State, the government and these bodies, NLC and TUC who claim to be fighting for the interest of civil servants signed an agreement for payment of 50% of just a month, out of the five (5) months salary to civil servants.
The Bayelsa state NLC chairman John-Bipre Ndiomu & TUC chairman Tari Ndunana just recently got rewarded by the restoration government for betraying the state's civil service.
On a better, free and convenient time, take a critical view and analysis of the activities of the NLC and TUC, it'll be revealed that they are both under tyranny of the State government.
