MACIVER SETS UP TASKFORCE TO CURB MILITANCY AND OIL THEFT
The Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council Hon. Joshua Maciver has reconstituted the SILGA Oil and Gas Taskforce as follows.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Oil and Gas Mr Augustine Simon enjoined the leadership of the reconstituted Taskforce to put in their best to protect the environment from wanton destruction. Hon.Maciver said they should consider their appointment as a service to SILGA and the State. The statement indicated that the Task Force’s mandate is also to curb oil theft, illegal bunkering, sea piracy and kidnapping in the area.
The Chairman implored Multinational Oil and Gas Companies operating in the area to cooperate with the new Task Force. The statement added that the date for the inauguration of the executive will be announced later.
