DICKSON UNPAID SALARIES: NDU ASUU SET FOR STRIKE, AWAITING NOD FROM IT'S NEC.
The acafemic staff Union of Universities in NDU has resolved to go on indefinite strike over unpaid four moths salaries as soon as the National Executive Council gives the nod.
The resolution was part of many reached today (Wed, 20th April, 2016) at an emergency meeting held at the ETF building of the institution.
These are certainly not the best of times for governor HS Dickson as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the Niger Delta University NDU branch prepares for the strike. The strike, which is capable of paralysing activities at the Universities is coming barely two weeks to first semester exams at the intitution.
ASUU had earlier scheduled a strike action earlier this month but called it off as a mark of honour and respect for the late DSP Alamieyeseigha who was buried on the 9th of April 2016.
Staff of the Niger Delta University are being owed four months salaries. They have made several apeals to the state governor to pay them their salaries but received no favourable response. The proposed strike is thus being seen as the last option available to them.
